This weekend I made a raft of updates to the website that I wanted to share.

Video Updates – the main new addition is a page that collects together the video updates. There have been two video updates so far (there will be a third one this week), and you can see each video with a single click from that page.

About The Book – this page has been re-written and shortened, and the Second Edition updates are now summarized on there too. Also included are links to the social networking resources for The Art of Community and contact details for press.

Reviews – the reviews page now includes quick links to each of the different reviews. This makes it much easier to navigate the reviews as the list grows.

About The Author and About The Editors – these pages have been cleaned up, simplified, and re-factored.

If there are any other parts of the site that you would like to see updated, do let me know!

As we build to the launch of The Art Of Community, I am really keen to make the most out of artofcommunityonline.org. I am excited about the opportunity of not only building the website into a more expansive information portal about the book, but to also provide discussion and facilities about community management, leadership and growth in general. As such, I am looking for your feedback.

What would you like to see on this site? What features and facilities would you find useful? What would you like to see regarding the book, and what regarding general community management topics?

Feel free to throw some ideas in this general direction and lets see what I can provide for the Art Of Community community. Thanks, folks!

Go and take a look and you are all welcome to join in the discussion there. We are getting a rather nice growing community there, but we can always be bigger. As such, I would be hugely grateful if you could all go and let your Facebook friends know about the page and join up.

Today I had a quick call with Laurel from O’Reilly about the promotional work going into the book. It was a useful call, and O’Reilly are excited about the response to the book announcement and the community building around it. We talked through a range of different ideas for ways in which we can push and promote the book and this site in different ways. I then figured: lets ask our community! What ideas do you folks have for pushing and promoting the book inside and outside of the community while it is being written?

The response so far to the announcement has been stunning. I just want to say a big thank you for all of your kind words. I think we are off to a great start!

I am pleased to see that the new website has been getting a good ‘ol fashioned hammering. Right now the buzz train is still running, so lets keep it on the tracks! I would like to encourage you all to continue to spread the word about the book. Blog it. identi.ca it. Twitter it. Encourage people to digg this article. Most importantly, point people to artofcommunityonline.org, so we can continue to build a great community around the book. Thanks also to our first community members Florian, amaneiro, JoshPanter, Malcolm Bastien, mrben and raphaelh: I am excited about the discussions we have ahead of us.

More excitement soon…
